A specialist area, backpackers travel insurance is necessary if you’re backpacking, as a standard holiday travel insurance package would not cover you in all the necessary areas. Most backpackers don’t go to a tourist areas like most holiday makers, in fact often they go to destinations off the beaten track, looking for adventure. This then gives the possibly of encountering specific dangers that come with this adventure. This is why a standard travel insurance policy isn’t adequate and why there are specific insurance policies for this activity. Often slightly more expensive, however absolutely necessary.
