Ski Travel Insurance
If planning a ski holiday, you automatically think of ski travel insurance, surely? Or maybe not, as statistics state that around 1/3 of all skiers do not buy insurance cover. With any accident potentially costing thousands, or needing to be rescued also costing thousands, it is madness not to take insurance out before you leave for your vacation.
There are also other potential situations that can happen on a skiing holiday, not just accidents. With all the equipment involved it could get broken or stolen or could even be lost by the airline. You could even end up with personal liability in the event of an accident you cause. All of this could cost you a lot of money, buying an insurance policy won’t.

With ski travel insurance there are a variety of different covers to choose from. For example, if you’re just a beginner and will be sticking to having lessons or just staying on the piste, your cover would not be as expensive as a more advanced skier who may be going off piste. The cost of such insurance can obviously be more expensive if you’re a high risk and you need to explain this to your insurance company to make sure you get the correct cover. You need to be fully covered so that you know if anything happens you won’t be financially liable.
There are also different levels of coverage for your medical expenses. For example a more expensive policy may will cover you up to $1,000,000 for all expenses, however for a cheaper, more basic policy, you may only be covered up to $250,000. You need to choose the policy you are most comfortable with, and bear in mind that excess payments required on some claims may be required and these are often quite a lot higher on the cheaper policies than the premium policies.
Ski travel insurance is a very complicated area and you need to make sure you’ve got the correct coverage, so make sure you shop around in plenty of time before you leave on your holiday. When you get your policy documents through make sure you do read them thoroughly, especially the small print, to make sure you got all the cover you need. If there’s anything you are unsure about, now is the time to ask questions of your insurance company, before you leave for your vacation.
